Q: Why is my Google Authenticator code always incorrect during the binding process?

A: If you have successfully added the key but the codes are consistently rejected, please check the following:

  • Do Not Refresh the Page: Binding keys are unique and session-based. If you refresh the binding page on Webot, a new secret key will be generated, rendering the one you just added to your app obsolete. Please use the most recent key displayed on the page without refreshing.

  • Time Synchronization: Google Authenticator relies on precise time. Ensure your phone's system time is set to "Set Automatically" in your device settings. If the time is off by even a few seconds, the code will be invalid.

  • 30-Second Refresh Cycle: Remember that 2FA codes expire every 30 seconds. Ensure you are entering the most recent code and completing the submission before the timer circle in the app resets.

  • Clear Previous Entries: To avoid confusion, delete any old or failed Webot entries in your Google Authenticator app before re-linking the new secret key.
