The Profile settings page is where you update your name in Whippet Notes — the personal account name shown for you across the dashboard. To find it, open Settings from the dashboard and click Profile in the menu on the left (or click the Profile row in the Overview list).
Updating your name
The page has two fields, pre-filled with what's currently saved:
First Name — required; you can't save with it blank.
Last Name — optional; a first name alone is fine.
Type your change, then click Update profile to save. Nothing saves until you click the button — there's no auto-save and no separate confirmation step. Once it's done, your updated name is reflected across the dashboard.
If something goes wrong
The Update profile button is greyed out. That's normal until a field differs from what's currently saved; it's also briefly unavailable while a save is in progress.
You cleared First Name and can't save. First Name can't be empty — type a first name and the button becomes available again.
The page says "Loading profile..." Your details are still being fetched — give it a moment. If it shows "Failed to load profile," refresh the page and try again. If it keeps failing, you may need to sign in again — see Signing up and logging in.
You saw an error after clicking Update profile. A short error message appears just below the button. Check your connection and try again.
What this doesn't do (yet)
Change your email, phone number, or password. This page only edits your first and last name — there's no email, phone, signature, or credentials field.
Set note-generation preferences. There are no clinical-note or note-style options on this page.
Edit your role or veterinary type. The Overview description mentions them, but the Profile page itself only offers First Name and Last Name.
Change practice-wide details. Your practice name, address, and contact details live on a separate screen — see Your practice settings.
