Why it matters
Notification settings help each user stay aware of important activity without receiving unnecessary alerts. Keeping these settings current helps teams respond to calls, conversations, imports, usage changes, forms, links, and integration issues through the channels that fit their workflow.
Key Concepts
Delivery method: The place where Whippy sends an alert. Current delivery methods include SMS, Email, Web, and App.
Notification category: A group of related events. Current categories include Calls, Conversations, Contacts, Imports, Integrations, Links and forms, and Usage.
Notification matrix: The table in Settings > Notifications where rows represent events and columns represent delivery methods.
Voice call preferences: Separate call ringing preferences that control whether Whippy rings you for incoming VoIP calls in your channels and whether new calls ring while you are already on a call.
Step-by-Step: Manage your notification preferences
Open Settings from the sidebar.
Select Notifications.
Review the available delivery columns: SMS, Email, Web, and App.
Find the event category you want to change, such as Calls, Conversations, Contacts, Imports, Integrations, Links and forms, or Usage.
Turn each delivery method on or off for the specific event.
Review the Voice section if you use Whippy calling.
Enable Ring me for incoming VoIP calls in my channels when calls should ring your Whippy app.
Enable Ring me for new calls even when I am already on a call if you want overlapping call alerts.
Return to the page later and adjust notifications as your role or workload changes.
Tips and Best Practices
Use Web or App notifications for events that need quick action while you are working in Whippy.
Use Email for alerts that can be reviewed later.
Use SMS only for events that are important enough to interrupt you outside Whippy.
Keep call notifications enabled only for channels you actively help answer.
Review Usage notifications with admins or billing owners so cost-related alerts reach the right people.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Possible Cause | Fix |
A notification did not arrive | The delivery method is turned off for that event | Open Settings > Notifications and enable the relevant SMS, Email, Web, or App checkbox |
Too many notifications are arriving | Too many events or delivery methods are enabled | Disable lower-priority event rows or remove delivery methods you do not need |
App notifications are not showing on a device | Device or browser notification permissions are blocked | Allow notifications for Whippy in the device, browser, or mobile app settings |
Incoming calls are not ringing | Voice call preferences are disabled or the user is not assigned to the channel | Enable the Voice call preferences and confirm you have access to the relevant call channel |
