Why it matters
Onboarding settings allow you to bring existing data into Whippy so your team can start working immediately. These tools help you bulk opt-in contacts for messaging, opt out contacts who should not receive communication, and import past conversations when migrating from another system.
Key Concepts
Bulk Opt-In Contacts: Uploading a list of contacts you want to opt in for receiving bulk messages.
Bulk Opt-Out Contacts: Uploading a list of contacts who should not receive future bulk messages.
Bulk Import Conversations: Adding historical conversations to Whippy for continuity and reporting.
File Importer: A guided interface used throughout Whippy for uploading CSV or XML files.

Tips and Best Practices
Use clear, descriptive names when uploading lists, especially if your organisation performs multiple imports.
Ensure contact data is clean and complete before uploading to reduce processing errors.
Always double-check channel selections when bulk opting in or out, as these actions affect future messaging.
When importing conversations, include timestamps and sender identifiers for better context in the message history.
Use manual entry only for small datasets; for large imports, CSV upload is more reliable.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Possible Cause | Fix |
File fails to upload | Unsupported format or corrupted file | Use a valid CSV or XML file and re-upload. |
Contacts not opted in or out correctly | Incorrect channel selections | Re-import the list with the correct channels selected. |
Duplicate contacts appear | File contains repeated entries | Clean your file before uploading. |
Conversation history appears incomplete | Missing required fields in the import file | Ensure timestamps, sender, and message content are included. |
