Provider Accounts in Whippy

Use Provider Accounts to add and manage the provider accounts Whippy uses for messaging and voice.

Written by Maria Cairns

Why it matters

Provider accounts hold the connection details that support channels, phones, SIP users, and provider-specific services.

Key Concepts

Add account: The Add account action opens the provider account setup form.

Account name: A clear provider account name helps admins identify the account later.

Provider credentials: Provider-specific fields, such as Telnyx API key and public key, connect Whippy to the provider.

Step-by-Step: Add or open a provider account

  1. Open Settings > Accounts.

  2. Click Add account to create a provider account.

  3. Enter the account name.

  4. Add the provider-specific credential fields shown in the form.

  5. Save the provider account.

  6. Open the provider account when you need Account Settings tabs such as Domains, Phones, or Auto Provision.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use descriptive account names that identify provider, environment, or purpose.

  • Store provider credentials according to your organization's security process.

  • Update provider credentials during a planned maintenance window when possible.

  • Review affected channels after changing provider account credentials.
