Whippy uses a Credit system for product pricing & usage.

Here is a list of the current public packages.

Don’t know what a Whippy Credit is? Check that out here.

Whippy has several different packages with an included amount of Whippy Credits including:

Package

Credits Included/mo

Additional Credits/mo per $50 charged

Lite

2,500

1,000

Essentials

7,500

1,250

Growth

20,000

1,500

Premium

40,000

1,750

Once you exceed your Credits Included per month, additional credits sent will result in overage fees.

For example if you purchase the Whippy Essentials package that means that you have 7500 credits for each calendar month.

Let’s say that you use 7,000 Outbound credits & 2,000 Inbound Credits for the month of July, this means the total number of credits used is 9,000 Whippy Credits for July (Credit are counted both for Inbound & Outbound message).

You will be charged $300/mo at the start of the month (or on your billing cycle) for the initial 7,500 credits and then will be charged overages for the additional 1,500 credits the following month in arrears (9000 - 7500= 1500 overage credits).

In the Essential package, there is an additional charge of $50 per increment of 1,250 you went over. In the example above, the client went over 1,500 credits for the month so they would see a charge of $100 the following month (August) for overages in July.

Any unused monthly credits do not carry over from month to month. Your monthly credits are on a "use it or lose it" basis.

How do I monitor my Credit Usage?

To see your current usage log into your Whippy account and click on “Reports”. Here is a direct link to see you current Whippy Usage when logged in- https://app.whippy.co/reports/overview

Please Note that Whippy Usage is calculated on the calendar month not your billing cycle.

You also can set up Notifications to alert you when your Whippy Organization crosses 75%, 100% & 150%. Usage Notifications can be received via SMS, E-mail, Mobile App or Whippy Web Notifications. To manage any of those notifications, log into Whippy and go to the following page- https://app.whippy.co/settings/notifications

Please Note that Whippy Usage Notifications run at the end of the day so you will receive a usage notification at that time. As an example, if you cross 100% usage but by day end you have used 121%, you will get a notification for 121% usage.

How are SMS Texting Credits Calculated ?

We recently increased our character limit from 1,000 characters. Even though you can now send bigger messages, each credit is either every 160 characters or 70 characters (depending on if you are using special characters as highlighted below).

Note that some carriers allow those larger messages to appear as one message for the recipient and some do break them up. Regardless, these standard messaging rates still apply.

Here is a breakdown of how many characters phone carriers allow you to use per text credit when using different types of messaging:

If even 1 special character is in a message, then the carrier count each Credit as every 70 characters vs 160 characters. You can copy paste a message into the following Twilio calculator to see how many credits it will cost -https://twiliodeved.github.io/message-segment-calculator/

Note that some common special character types we have seen include copy pasting text from Microsoft Word or other documents into Whippy and those characters being considered Unicode by the carriers. Whippy does have AI detection software that can be used to detect and remove these special characters when prompted.

How are MMS Texting Credits Calculated ?

MMS count as 2 credits per media.

MMS include pictures, GIFS, PDFs & Documents.

If you were to send 500 contacts an image in a Whippy Campaign that would count as 500 x 2= 1,000 credits.
