Setting up membership tiers on your Discord server can be a lucrative endeavor, providing a structured way to monetize your community. Membership tiers on Winible automatically assign “Roles” to new Discord members, allowing you to control which Discord content or channels each member has access to. While many server owners stick to a single tier, implementing multiple tiers can significantly enhance both user experience and revenue potential. However, the process might seem daunting to some. Fortunately, with the help of Winible, creating a properly-tiered Discord and gating access with your pick subscription plans is easier than ever.
1) Creating Roles in Discord
To begin, it's essential to establish roles within your Discord server to differentiate between membership tiers. This allows for tailored access to various channels or categories based on a member's tier.
Access Server Settings: Navigate to your server's settings by selecting the server name in the top-left corner and clicking on "Server Settings."
Create Roles: Under the "Roles" tab, generate new roles by clicking on "Create Role." Here, you can customize the role name, color, and permissions.
Role Configuration: Assign clear and descriptive names to roles, ensuring easy comprehension for all members. We recommend creating both a “Free” and “Paid” role, which will correspond with your free and paid subscription plans on Winible. Additionally, consider enabling options such as displaying members separately and restricting role mentions or messaging as per your preferences.
For instance, you might create roles named "Basic" and "VIP" to represent different membership tiers, with "Basic" offering standard features and "VIP" providing premium perks. We will control access to specific Discord content in our next section.
2) Setting up Permissions
After defining roles, it's crucial to adjust permissions to regulate access to specific channels or categories based on each tier's privileges. If you do not currently have categories set up, please create a “Winible” Category, with a “Free Picks” and “Vip Picks” channel under it now. These will be text channels, not voice.
Channel Privacy: Make relevant channels private to restrict access. Right-click on the channel, select "Edit Channel," navigate to the "Permissions" tab, and enable "Private Channel."
Role Access: Specify which roles can access which channel. Right-click on the channel, and select “Permissions”. Add roles to the allowlist for respective channel to grant appropriate access. For instance, allow both "Free" and "Paid" roles access to the "Free Picks" channel, and restrict access to the "VIP Picks" channel solely to the "Paid" role.
By setting up permissions in this manner, members will only have access to channels aligned with their membership tier. You can adjust permissions for entire categories as well by right-clicking on the category and following the steps above.
3) Integrating with Winible
Utilizing Winible further streamlines the process of creating and managing membership tiers for your Discord server. The Winible Discord integration automatically grants discord access and assigns relevant roles when a new customer joins your Winible Subscription Plan.
Linking to Discord: On the left side of your Winible, navigate to your “Subscription Plans”, then select “edit” on the plan you wish to link to Discord. Select “Link Discord Server”, sign in to your Discord account, and select the Server you want to integrate. Do not yet click “Verify Settings”.
Activate Winible Discord Bot: On Discord, navigate to your server's settings by selecting the server name in the top-left corner and clicking on "Server Settings". Select “Roles” then drag the “Winible Bot” role to the top of the list. Return to your Winible and select “Verify Settings”.
Assign Roles: On the plan you were editing in Winible, you will now see the option to select roles assigned on subscription start and subscription end. For a free Winible plan, you will select the “Free” role to be assigned on subscription start. We recommend that you remove the gold check from the box so that the free subscribers stay in your Discord if they end their Winible Subscription. For a paid Winible plan, you will select the “Paid” and “Free” roles to be assigned on subscription start, and only the “Free” role to be assigned on subscription end.
If you are integrating a Free Plan, we recommend you only assign a role on subscription start. If you are integrating a Paid Plan, we recommend you assign all desired roles on subscription start, but keep them in your Discord with minimum access on subscription end. This will allow you to re-engage previous customers who are still in your Discord community.
Repeat: Repeat these three steps for each Winible subscription plan you would like to integrate. Each plan can correspond to the same Discord server or individual servers.
With Winible, managing membership tiers becomes effortless, allowing you to effectively monetize your Discord server while offering engagement options to your community.
Tips and Considerations
While implementing membership tiers, it's essential to fine-tune permissions for individual channels and roles to maintain a well-organized and structured Discord community. Every time you create a new channel or role, make sure to repeat the steps above to select those respective permissions. Additionally, avoid overwhelming potential customers with too many tier options, as simplicity often leads to better decision-making.
Conclusion
In conclusion, leveraging membership tiers on your Discord server can significantly enhance its appeal and revenue potential. By integrating Winible's tools, creating and managing diverse membership options becomes a seamless process, empowering you to cultivate a thriving community with tiered memberships.
