MC-2 Camera Reset Guide

How to reset your MC-2 camera

What Does a Reset Do?

A reset completely powers down the MC-2 camera and allows it to restart from a clean state. This process refreshes the camera's internal systems, re-establishes communication with the cellular network, and helps resolve many common operational issues.

A reset does not delete your photos or HuntControl account information but will make your camera go back to default settings.

Benefits of Performing a Reset

Resetting the MC-2 can help:

  • Refresh the camera's connection to the cellular network

  • Clear temporary software or communication issues

  • Improve communication between the camera and HuntControl

  • Resolve some image transmission problems

  • Restore normal operation after configuration changes

  • Improve overall camera responsiveness

  • Re-sync the camera with network and server communications

Think of it like restarting a smartphone or computer. Many temporary issues can be resolved by giving the device a fresh start.

When Should I Perform a Reset?

A reset is recommended if:

  • The camera has stopped sending images

  • Commands are not being received by the camera

  • The camera is checking in inconsistently

  • The camera is not connecting to the cellular network

  • The camera is having trouble communicating with HuntControl

  • The camera is behaving unexpectedly

  • Camera will connect in one location but not the next

  • The camera has been powered off for an extended period and is being redeployed

When a Reset May Not Fix the Problem

If you are experiencing image transmission issues and a reset does not resolve the problem, inspect the SD card.

Recommended actions:

  1. Format the SD card.

  2. Test the camera again.

  3. If the issue persists, replace the SD card with a known-good card.

Steps to reset your camera.

Step 1:

Locate the reset hole on the bottom of your MC-2 and turn your camera to setup mode

Step 2:

Once located and turned to setup insert something small and pointed such as a paperclip or thumbtack into the reset hole and hold it there until all lights go solid yellow

Step 3:

Once all the lights go solid yellow take whatever you have out of the hole and all the light will turn off for a second and then it will begin its normal setup procedure.
