Wiser's Manual Recommendations feature lets you choose which products you want to recommend together. This gives you complete control over the products shown in your recommendation widgets.
For example, you can recommend accessories, complementary products, or related items alongside a specific product.
This guide explains how to create, manage, and display manual recommendations using the new Wiser admin.
Before You Start
Make sure the products you want to recommend are already available in your Shopify store.
You will need to select:
A main product/collection—the product for which you want to create recommendations.
One or more recommended products/ collection — the products you want to show alongside the main product.
Create a Manual Recommendation
Step 1: Open Manual Recommendations
Open Wiser from your Shopify admin.
From the Wiser dashboard, navigate to Recommendations.
Locate Hand- picked recommendation and select Customize Widget
Step 2: Create a New Recommendation
Click the option to create a new Manual Recommendation.
Step 3: Search for Products
When creating a Manual Recommendation, you can find products using three different search options:
Search by Product Title
Search by SKU
Search by Collection
Choose the search method that works best for you.
Search by Product Title
Use Search by Product Title when you know the name of the product you want to find.
Enter the product title in the search field and select the relevant product from the results.
Example:
Search for Classic White Shirt to find the product with that title.
Search by SKU
Use Search by SKU when you want to find a specific product using its SKU.
Enter the SKU in the search field and select the relevant product from the results.
Example:
If the product SKU is SHIRT-001, search for SHIRT-001.
Tip: When searching by SKU, make sure you enter the correct SKU so that the intended product appears in the results.
Search by Collection
Use Search by Collection when you want to find products that belong to a specific Shopify collection.
Select the collection you want to use, and Wiser will display the products available in that collection.
Example:
Select the Summer Collection to find products from that collection.
Step 4: Select the Main Product
After finding the product, select Edit.
This is the main product that customers will be viewing.
Step 5: Select Recommended Products
Next, select the products that you want to recommend alongside the main product.
For example:
Main Product: Classic White Shirt
Recommended Products:
Black Trousers
Leather Belt
Sneakers
You can add multiple products to a Manual Recommendation.
Step 6: Save the Recommendation
Once you have selected the main product and the products you want to recommend, click Save.
Your Manual Recommendation is now created.
Step 7: Activate the Manual Recommendation on the desired Page
After creating your Manual Recommendation, you need to enable the widget on the desired page:
Go to Setup Widgets in the Wiser admin.
Select Product Page.
Find Handpicked Recommendations.
Enable the Handpicked Recommendations widget.
Save your changes
Step 8: Add the Wiser App Block
Go to the Product Page in the Shopify Theme Editor and add the Wiser app block where you want the recommendations to appear.
Alternatively, you can add the widget directly from Wiser:
In Wiser, go to Recommendations.
Click Add Widget for the recommendation you want to display.
Wiser will redirect you to the Shopify Theme Editor and automatically add the Wiser app block for you.
Position the widget where you want it to appear and Save your changes.
Step 9: Check the Recommendation
Visit the relevant product page on your storefront to verify that the recommended products are displayed in the Wiser widget.
Note: Make sure the relevant Wiser widget is enabled and correctly placed on your store for the recommendations to appear.
