Why Did My Card Sell Twice? Keeping Stock in Sync

How Mascot keeps quantities in sync across your channels and Mascot Network, what causes a double sale, and what to do if it happens.

How syncing works

When an item sells on any channel Mascot is connected to, Mascot lowers the quantity and removes the item from your other channels and from Mascot Network automatically. A double sale almost always means Mascot didn't hear about one of the sales.

Common causes

  • A disconnected channel. If your eBay or Shopify connection has expired, sales there don't reduce your quantity in Mascot, so the item stays live on Mascot Network.

  • A sale somewhere Mascot isn't connected. A card show, your store counter, a direct deal or an app Mascot doesn't integrate with.

  • A duplicate listing Mascot doesn't track. For example, the same card listed manually on Whatnot or eBay outside Mascot.

If a card has sold twice

If you no longer have the card, don't ship anything for the Mascot Network order. Message Support with the order and we'll cancel it. The buyer is refunded automatically.

How to prevent it

  1. Keep your connections healthy. Under Sales Channels, check that eBay and Shopify are connected. If eBay sales aren't syncing, delete the eBay integration in Mascot and add it again, signing in with the eBay account you sell from. If Shopify is disconnected, reconnect it.

  2. Mark off-platform sales as sold right away. If a card sells somewhere Mascot isn't connected, mark it as sold in Mascot (or create an invoice) so it comes off Mascot Network straight away.

  3. Delist before shows. Before a card show, delist the items you're bringing, or turn on Vacation Mode if you're taking most of your inventory.

  4. List through Mascot, not directly. Listings you create directly on a marketplace aren't tracked by Mascot.

If you're not sure which sale didn't sync, message Support and we'll check the sync and delist history for the item.
