PLEASE NOTE: Unless you have written permission from the video creator, you are not permitted to download and insert YouTube videos in an eAcademy course. Instead, you are permitted to add the YouTube video to your course using Insert Content from the rich text editor toolbar. Make sure to list the video’s title and the creator’s name above the video to provide proper attribution. The video will appear to be embedded in your course; following these steps will not violate copyright laws.
Before you begin, you need to add the YouTube app to your Schoology Resources. Follow the steps in the resource, Adding the YouTube App to your Schoology Resources.
Navigate to your Schoology course. Expand the folder where the page resides that you want to edit. To the right of the page name, click the gear icon and then click Edit.
In the content area, add text to introduce the YouTube video to your students and explain the relevance to your content (if applicable). Include the video’s title and creator’s name to ensure we don’t violate copyright laws. Also include the video’s length to help students manage their time. Consider providing questions for students to think about as they view the video.
Below your introductory text, place the cursor where you want to insert the YouTube video, click Insert Content (1) from the rich text editor toolbar, and then click YouTube (2).
In the Search box, enter the video’s title and click the magnifying glass or press Enter on your keyboard. Review the YouTube warning information.
Once you locate the desired YouTube video, check the box to the left of the video’s title. This will enable the Import drop-down menu to appear.
From the Import drop-down menu, click Import as Embed.
Once you’re done editing the page, click Save Changes.
After you click Save Changes, you’ll be able to see the video. If desired, you can resize the video player by editing the page, clicking the yellow rectangle, and dragging the corners in or out.
The video will now be displayed on the page. If needed, edit the page again to continue adding content or adjusting the video player size.
