How do I get feedback on my prompt for effective AI grading?

Receive AI feedback on your writing prompts to get more specific AI grading on student work.

In this article, you will learn how to get AI feedback on your writing prompt to ensure more tailored and specific AI grading results.

It is important to note that you can only receive AI feedback on your prompt for either an Essay Assignment or a Custom Assignment - Single Response. You can also get feedback for an existing assignment as well.

Essay Assignment

  1. To create essay assignment, click on 'Create' at the top, and then select 'Essay Assignment.'

  2. Next, type in your writing prompt and click next.

  3. You will now have the option to add readings or skip this step.

  4. Next, you will need to select a rubric. You can choose from a premade one or create a new one. Click here to learn how to build a rubric from scratch.

  5. After selecting your rubric, you will be taken to the feedback page, where you will receive suggestions to make your prompt better. These suggestions are designed to improve the writing prompt in order to then receive better targeted AI grading feedback.

    To make edits to your prompt, click on 'Prompt Editor' at the top, or 'edit your prompt' underneath the green box. Once you have edited your prompt, click next.

    💡Note: After you edit your prompt, you will have the option to request new AI feedback on your revised prompt.

  6. Give your assignment a title and click 'Finish' to create the assignment.


Custom Assignment - Single Response

  1. To create a custom assignment with a single response, click on 'Create' at the top, and then select 'Custom Assignment' and 'Single Response.'

  2. You will now have the option to add readings or skip this step.

  3. Next, enter in your prompt and click 'Next.'

  4. Next, you will need to select a rubric. You can choose from a premade one or create a new one. Click here to learn how to build a rubric from scratch.

  5. After selecting your rubric, you will be taken to the feedback page, where you will receive suggestions to make your prompt better. These suggestions are designed to improve the writing prompt in order to then receive better targeted AI grading feedback.

Get Prompt Feedback on an Existing Assignment

  1. Select the assignment that you would like to edit.

  2. Next, click 'Edit' to open up the assignment settings.

  3. Scroll down to 'Prompt' and click on the pencil icon to edit the prompt.

  4. The Edit Prompt window will open up. Select 'Request Feedback' to get suggestions that are designed to improve the writing prompt in order to receive better targeted AI grading feedback.

    After the feedback is generated, you will be able to see it under the 'Feedback' tab. You will then have the option to edit your prompt based on the feedback given by clicking 'Click here.'

  5. Once you've made your edits, you can either 'Request Feedback' to further refine your prompt or select 'Done'.
