Users may end up with more than one Writable account if they log in through different means and do not link their accounts. This may cause assignments to show up in separate accounts and students may also lose their work.

To prevent the duplicate accounts from being created, please follow the following steps based on your scenario:

First Time Accessing Writable

  1. Log into Ed.

  2. Next, launch Writable from Ed.

    • If you are a teacher - Click on 'Discover' and then select a program. Next, click the 'Connected Solutions' button on the left of the screen to see programs linked to this course. Click the Writable icon to login.

    • If you are a student - click on 'Writable' from your dashboard.

  3. You will then need to connect your account with either Google or Microsoft.

  4. Next, launch Writable from your LMS (Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom).

    • Canvas: Launch Writable by selecting 'Writable' from the left navigation menu.

    • Schoology: Launch Writable by selecting 'Writable' from the left navigation menu.

    • Google Classroom: Launch Writable by clicking on the assignment.

  5. You will then need to log into Writable using either Google or Microsoft. This step is very important for connecting your accounts and ensuring that duplicate accounts do not get created. Do NOT skip this step!

    • Canvas

    • Schoology

    • Google Classroom: Clicking on the assignment will open up Writable in a new tab.

  6. Once you log into Writable from your LMS, your account will be connected to both Ed and your LMS.

You've Already Launched Writable from an LMS

  1. If you're already logged into Writable because you launched from an LMS (Canvas, Schoology, or Google Classroom), you will need to log out by clicking on the profile icon in the upper right corner and then selecting 'Logout'.

  2. After you log out from Writable, log into Ed.

  4. You will then be prompted to 'Connect an Account' with either Google or Microsoft. This step is very important for connecting your accounts and ensuring that duplicate accounts do not get created. Do NOT skip this step!

❗️Skipping this step will create duplicate accounts, which may result in users not being able to access assignments or losing their work.
