Link tracking helps Yada connect a website visit back to the guest you messaged. When it is on, outbound marketing links keep your domain and receive a short tracking parameter that the Website Widget can resolve.
What link tracking does
When a campaign, journey, Guest Signal, or other marketing send includes a URL, Yada appends an 8-character ?y= parameter to that URL. For example:
https://your-booking-site.com/stay?y=Ab12Cd34
The guest still lands on your website domain.
Each send that contains a URL gets its own tracking code.
When the guest opens a page where the Yada Website Widget is installed, the widget reads the
?y=value and identifies which contact clicked. That attribution powers campaign link-click reporting and contact-level click-through insight.
Link tracking applies to SMS, email, WhatsApp variable URLs, and other marketing dispatch. It is separate from SendGrid branded email link tracking and from email UTM parameters.
Why it matters
Know who clicked. Tie a website visit or widget session back to the contact you already messaged.
Measure campaign engagement. See link clicks and unique clickers in marketing performance.
Keep booking URLs intact. Guests stay on your domain. Yada appends a small parameter instead of replacing the link with a short redirect.
Without the Website Widget on the destination page, the ?y= parameter is present but Yada cannot resolve the contact from the click.
How to set it up
Open Settings → Marketing.
In the Link tracking card, turn on Append tracking param to message links.
Save your marketing settings. Link tracking is on by default for most workspaces.
Install and enable the Website Widget on the pages your message links point to. Follow Install the Direct Booking Website Widget.
Use your own site URLs in campaign, journey, and signal content so guests land on pages that load the widget.
Send as usual. When a guest clicks and the widget loads, Yada attributes the click to that contact.
What guests see
Guests see your normal URL plus a short tracking parameter. For SMS, the character count includes about 10 extra characters per tracked URL.
If you turn link tracking off, URLs are sent as-is and click attribution from message links is disabled.
Troubleshooting
No click attribution: Confirm link tracking is enabled in Settings → Marketing.
Param is present but contacts are not identified: Confirm the Website Widget is installed and healthy on the landing page.
SMS length warnings: Account for roughly 10 characters per URL when drafting SMS content.
