How to Manage Young Heroes Exchanging Contact Information

Written by Mandycore the Manticore

Working together to tell a story brings Young Heroes together. This might mean some of them want to stay in contact outside of a game session.

What should a Dungeon Master do if one Young Hero wants to exchange their contact information with another Young Hero?

Dungeon Master Messaging Rules

The boundaries for Dungeon Masters are firm. Dungeon Masters cannot communicate with a Young Hero without both Guardian and StartPlaying consent.

This means all communication must go through a Guardian and StartPlaying's Messaging tool. We do not permit off platform contact.

Young Heroes Contact Sharing Rules

Young Heroes are not allowed to share or exchange any personal information.

This is to protect kids and teens from sharing personal information online.

This can include things like:

  1. Personal Contact Information (emails, phone numbers, etc.)

  2. Personally Identifying Information (full names, full birthdays, etc.)

  3. Social Media Handles (Youtube channels, Instagram accounts, etc.)

  4. Location-Specific Information (cities, neighborhoods, etc.)

If a Young Hero shares their personal information, they will not be penalized. We understand that kids and teens are excited to share information about themselves with their peers and want to forge connections. Instead, we view it as a learning opportunity between Guardian and Young Hero.

Handling Contact Exchange

If a Young Hero wants to exchange contact information with another Young Hero, let their Guardians know in your game's group chat.

Guardians can then choose to exchange contact details with one another via Messages. They are not required to respond to a request to exchange contact details.
