How Young Hero Videos are Recorded & Stored

Written by Dougbear the Bugbear

Recording the games run for our Young Heroes is just one of many steps we have taken to ensure their safety at the table. In the article below, we will cover how these recordings are made and protected.

How are sessions recorded for Young Heroes games?

All Young Heroes sessions are run through Zoom. You will be provided with these links before the session through Email and your "My Games" page, so your Young Heroes can join the game. Each of these sessions are recorded for us automatically by Zoom; however, the recordings are not retained or stored within their system. Instead, as soon as the call has ended, Zoom will encrypt the video file and transfer it to us, fully removing it from their system.

How does Young Heroes retain and protect these recordings?

Recorded sessions are retained by our team for 90 days before being deleted permanently. We use best-of-class 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256) encryption, with access being limited using the least privilege principle. This means that the fewest people necessary can access the recording.

These recordings are not provided to Dungeon Masters or Guardians and will only be accessed by our team in the event of a safety investigation.

If you have any questions, concerns, or you have a safety issue to report with one of your games, please contact youngheroes@startplaying.com, and our team will be happy to assist!
