Learn how to use add-ons to increase your Average Order Value (AOV) by offering VIP upgrades, merchandise, food and drink packages, and other extras during checkout.

Add-ons appear during checkout, after ticket selection. Attendees can add extras to their order alongside their tickets, making it one of the easiest ways to boost your average order value.

What Are Add-Ons?

Add-ons are optional extras that attendees can purchase alongside their tickets. They are displayed during checkout and can be anything you want to offer on top of the base ticket.

Common add-on examples include:

  • VIP upgrades — Express entry, backstage access, reserved seating, VIP lounge access.

  • Merchandise — T-shirts, hats, branded items, event memorabilia.

  • Food and drink packages — Drink tokens, meal packages, bar tabs, bottle service.

  • Parking — Reserved parking spots or parking passes.

  • Accommodation — Camping passes, hotel packages for multi-day events.

  • Experience upgrades — Meet and greets, photo packages, premium viewing areas.

Creating an Add-On

To create an add-on for your event:

  1. Go to your event and click Edit.

  2. Scroll to the Add-Ons section.

  3. Click the Create + button.

  4. Enter the add-on name and description.

  5. Set the price.

  6. Set the available quantity (or leave unlimited).

  7. Optionally add an image to make the add-on more appealing.

  8. Save the add-on.

💡 Tip

Add a clear, high-quality image or video to your add-ons to improve conversion rates.

Add-On Strategies to Increase Revenue

Here are some proven strategies for using add-ons effectively:

  • Bundle pricing — Offer a package deal that is cheaper than buying items separately (e.g. "Drink + Merch Bundle" for less than buying each individually).

  • Limited availability — Set a low quantity on premium add-ons like VIP upgrades to create urgency and exclusivity.

  • Tiered upgrades — Offer multiple levels of upgrades (e.g. "Silver VIP" and "Gold VIP") at different price points.

  • Early bird add-ons — Offer discounted add-ons for early purchasers, then increase the price closer to the event.

💡 Tip

Organisers who use add-ons typically see a 15-25% increase in average order value. Even simple options like drink tokens or fast-track entry can make a big difference.

How Add-Ons Appear to Attendees

Add-ons are shown during the checkout process after the attendee selects their tickets. They can choose to add extras to their order or skip them entirely.

Add-ons are included on the attendee's order confirmation email, so both you and the attendee have a clear record of what was purchased.

Managing Add-On Orders

You can view all add-on purchases in your event's Summary Tab. This helps you prepare stock, plan logistics, and understand which add-ons are most popular with your audience.

ℹ️ Note

Add-ons are tied to the event they are created for. If you run the same event regularly, you will need to create add-ons for each new event or duplicate the event to carry them over.
