ASID stands for Alphanumeric Sender ID. It is a registration system managed by telecommunications providers that verifies the sender of an SMS message. YourKind handles ASID registration automatically, but it does affect the credit cost of your SMS messages.
What Is An ASID?
ASID (Alphanumeric Sender ID) lets your SMS messages display your brand name as the sender, like "YourKind" or "X Event", instead of a phone number. It is how recipients know the message is genuinely from you before they even open it.
To obtain an ASID, there is a carrier registration process that verifies the sender behind each brand name. Without this registration, messages can be blocked or filtered as spam. YourKind takes care of this process for you. We will just need you to answer a couple of questions, and we handle the rest.
ℹ️ Note
If you choose not to use an ASID, your messages will be sent from YourKind's generic shared number. This number is used by other organisers who also do not have an ASID registered, so we always recommend setting one up to keep your communications on-brand and recognisable.
How ASID Affects Credit Cost
Because of ASID fees charged by carriers, SMS messages sent to Australian numbers cost slightly more than the base rate. The ASID surcharge is 1.3 credits per message part, rather than the standard 1 credit per part.
For example:
1-part SMS to an Australian number – 1.3 credits per recipient.
2-part SMS to an Australian number – 2.6 credits per recipient.
3-part SMS to an Australian number – 3.9 credits per recipient.
This surcharge is applied automatically. You will see the adjusted credit estimate when composing your SMS campaign in YourKind.

Why An ASID Matters
Better deliverability – registered messages are far less likely to be blocked by carriers.
Sender name display – ASID allows your brand name to appear as the sender instead of a random number.
Compliance – Australian regulations require proper sender identification for commercial SMS messages.
