Defining Your Index Layout

How to navigate the index settings

You can change the layout and content of the bundle index from the Index Settings button.

Once clicked, the Index Settings window will open. Each setting/option is explained below, going from the options at the top of the window, to the bottom.

The buttons at the top of the window can perform a variety of functions.

Index Layout

Will allow you to preview the layout of the index.
Note: this preview will not include any changes to the font or show any of the content i.e. Section & Documents.

Reset to Defaults

This will reset the index layout to the default layout.

Save as Default

This will save the current index layout as the default layout


The top pane of the Index Settings window allows you to drag the index columns to the required width.

Print headings in the index will allow you to choose whether to print the headings in the index.
Index header text will allow you to amend the header text.

You can specify the Title of a column in the index

You can specify whether the column should appear in the Grid, which is the Documents Pane on the Sections & Documents view

You can specify whether this column should appear in the Index

You can specify whether an item should appear in the Bookmark, which is within the navigation bar on the finished PDF

This allows you to define the start position of the columns on the Index

This allows you to define the width of the columns on the Index


There are also two User Defined Columns, these will allow you to input any extra information you require, such as Author. We recommend you tick the Grid box when working with User Defined Columns as this is the only way you will be able to edit the content.
