NB: Only a ValveTrack manager or administrator user role is able to use the 'set valve to read only' functionality. The Viewer role will see the tick box greyed out and unavailable. Please contact a Manager or Administrator role person.
Lock valve meta-data page
The functionality to lock down the edit valve data is found on each individual valve's overview sub-section, with a tick box called 'Read only'
Once 'Read only' is ticked and active, the Viewer and Manager user roles viewing the relevant locked valve will see a pad lock icon (instead of the pen icon indicating edit possibilities) with an explainer text as hover-over text bubble if they want to click the 'Edit valve data' button. The audit history is also tracked in the Change history.
NB: Only the administrator role can unlock the 'Read only' tick box, which is seen as a toggle option color (more distinct color scheme) compared to the more greyed out option seen by Viewer and Manager roles (see above picture).
Also, nobody can delete the valve that is set to 'Read only', as it will give you the following error message in the Valve list overview:
Once the valve record is unlocked the administrator, the audit change history is updated and the valve is now again editable by both the Manager and Administrator roles.
Lock valve log page
NB: Only a ValveTrack manager or administrator user role is able to use the 'set valve log to read only' functionality. The Viewer role will see the tick box greyed out and unavailable. Please contact a Manager or Administrator role person.
The functionality to lock down the edit/create/delete valve logs is found on each individual valve's Logs sub-section, with a tick box called 'Read only'
You will need to confirm the 'Read only' choice again in the pop-up
When you set the valve log page to 'Read only', it will automatically set the valve overview (meta-data page) to 'Read only' too. This is to prevent any further editing of either valve meta-data or valve logs as this valve is now considered 'moved to control room processing' or that the valve should not be operated again.
NB: You can set the valve meta-data to 'Read only' without automatically setting the valve logs to 'Read only'. This is in the case where the valve meta-data is finalized and should not be changed, while operations of the particular valve is still possible.
You can't set any Valve log page to 'Read only' if the specific valve is part of an active plan - either in Planned or Ready for Execution stages. This is regardless if the valve log itself for the particular valve has been created and registered within the plan already. The plan must be set to 'Completed' stage before you can tick the 'Read only' box in the particular valve log page.
If the valve logs are to be created/edited again, an administrator role must un-tick the 'Read only' box. You can now create new logs/status checks and edit existing entries
