Handling remotely operated valves

Valves controlled by actuators can be, for a period of time, manually operated and thus managed by ValveTrack

Updated yesterday

In a tie-in project control of remotely operated valves can be handed over from operation to project and they will then be operated manually. These valves can be tracked by ValveTrack, but they follow a separate process.

These valves are marked with a "wifi" symbol:

A symbol with strike through indicates that the valve is currently manually operated

Adding a new valve

When adding a remotely capable valve you simply set the property to yes, tooltip will give you some more detail.

Switch of control from remote to manual using Logs

Switch of control is part of the valve operation and it is thus done in either the Logs section or through a plan in Planner. In either case change of control is documented through a log entry.

1. Navigate to the Logs section of a remotely operated valve

Here you can click on the Switch of control

2. Add the Switch of control

Here you can only select the "Remote -> Manual" option since this valve is already remotely operated

3. Add the final position

Then you also need to state the final position

4. Valve is now in manual mode

And all the normal options are available

Switch of control from remote to manual using Planner

Switch of control can also be part of a planned operation. It follows the same pattern as described in the Planner section. Highlights are:

1. Create a plan and add a valve

Add a remote capable valve and assign a planned operation

In this case a switch of control operation.

2. Then execute the plan

NOTE: since the selected valve is currently remotely operated you can only select Remote -> Manual:
