A status schematic shows the live open/closed status of your valves on a drawing. This article explains how to add one to ValveTrack and how to see which status schematics a valve appears on.
Before you start: create your status schematic as an SVG file using our Inkscape guide. Each valve in the file must have its ValveTrack valve-id added, or it won't be linked.
Note: We have replaced "P&ID" with "status schematic". A P&ID is the formal, handed-over drawing used for normal operations. What ValveTrack shows is different — live valve status during a campaign, project build, or IMR operation. We're now calling it a status schematic to make that distinction accurate.
Add a status schematic
Once you have created the status schematic, follow the steps below to add it to ValveTrack:
Click the Status Schematic tab at the top.
Click Add new Status Schematic.
Fill in the details and drag in or upload your SVG file.
Click Submit.
Your new status schematic now appears in the list together with the title, doc number, and revision.
Open a valve overview page from a status schematic
Every linked valve on a status schematic is clickable.
Hover over a valve and your cursor turns into a hand, showing the valve is clickable. The valve's overview page address also appears in your browser's status bar, usually in the bottom-left corner.
Click the valve to open its overview page in a new tab. Your status schematic stays open in the original tab.
Tip: If nothing appears when you hover over a valve, it probably isn't linked.
Share a status schematic
Each status schematic has its own link, so you can send colleagues straight to the right drawing without them having to find it in the list.
Open the status schematic you want to share.
Click Copy link in the top-right corner, next to Create valve status report (.pdf).
Paste the link into an email, Teams message or document.
When the recipient opens the link, they go straight to that status schematic.
Note: Recipients need access to the ValveTrack field to open the link.
How to find Related Status Schematics for any valves?
To find the related schematics for any valves:
Open the valve from the valve list.
Go to the Related Status Schematics tab. It lists every status schematic the valve appears on.
Click a status schematic to open it. The valve is highlighted with a circle, so you can find it straight away.
