If you're picking up a load for CHEP (one of our customers), first determine whether you're picking up good pallets or bad pallets:
If the BOL starts with 377 or 378, you will be picking up a trailer loaded with bad pallets from a retailer (for example, Costco).
If the BOL starts with 369, you will be picking up a trailer loaded with good pallets for use by a customer.
If the BOL starts with 368, these are pallets which are in need of repair
Do I Bring an Empty or a Loaded Trailer To A Facility?
There are two types of facilities:
Live Facilities
At live facilities, you will either be live loading or live unloading. You can see this by checking the stop details in the app.
If you are live loading (indicated as "pickup - live" in the app), you cannot bobtail to the facility, as you will need an empty trailer to get loaded and then take that trailer to your next location.
If you are live unloading (indicated as "dropoff - live" in the app), you cannot drop that trailer once you have unloaded.
Drop Facilities
In drop facilities, you will typically be dropping an empty trailer to then hook a loaded trailer.
You can find out what trailer number to pick up on the stop details on the app.
When Facility Will Not Let You Drop
Sometimes a facility may not allow you to drop the trailer and instead require you to live load or unload. When this hapens, please inform our dispatch team so we can confirm the requirements with the facility.
