How do I manage alerts notifications?

Updated this week

The Notifications dropdown in Apricot helps users stay on top of new alerts triggered by active rules. From this menu, you can view, read, or clear alerts—all without leaving your current page. Understanding alert states ensures you don’t miss critical updates or reminders.

Step 1: Open your notifications

  1. Locate the Notifications (bell) icon in the Top Navigation bar, just to the left of your User Badge.

  2. Click the bell icon to open the Notifications dropdown.

    1. You’ll see all alerts triggered by rules scoped to your user, role, program, or site.

    2. The bell icon displays the total number of brand-new alerts you haven’t seen yet.

Step 2: Understand alert states

Each alert has a visual indicator to show its status:

Alert State

Description / Appearance

Brand New Alerts

Have an orange dot next to the Notification Message and appear on an orange-shaded row. These are alerts you’ve never opened before.

Unread (Previously Seen)

Alerts you’ve opened but not marked as read. They remain in orange-shaded rows and persist even if you navigate away.

Read Alerts

When you select the radio button on the alert row, it becomes un-bolded and loses the orange highlight. These alerts also persist if you navigate away.

Cleared Alerts

Clicking the “X” on an alert removes it from the dropdown completely. Cleared alerts cannot be retrieved.

Note: Once cleared, alerts are permanently removed and cannot be restored.

Step 3: Manage multiple alerts

To take bulk actions on your alerts:

  1. Click Mark All Read to mark every alert as read at once.

    1. All alerts lose their orange shading and bold text.

  2. Click Clear All to remove all alerts from your dropdown.

    1. This permanently clears all notifications for your account.

Tip: Both Mark All Read and Clear All apply to every alert currently visible to you. Use with caution if you want to keep certain alerts for reference.
