Datasets are the foundation of reporting in Impact Hub. Datasets are generated from Apricot Data Standards and determine which forms and fields are available when building reports.
Impact Hub Authors can add datasets to new reports, manage datasets in existing reports, and switch between datasets while working in Builder.
You must have Author or Author Pro access to add or manage datasets.
Before you start
Keep the following in mind when working with datasets:
Datasets are generated from published Apricot Data Standards.
At least one dataset must be added before you can build visuals in a report.
A single report can include multiple datasets, depending on reporting needs.
Step 1: Open Builder
To work with datasets, start by opening Builder.
Sign in to Impact Hub at reporting.bonterra.network.
From the left-side navigation menu, select Builder.
Step 2: Add a dataset when creating a new report
When you create a new report, you’re prompted to select datasets before entering the Builder workspace.
From the Builder page, select Create report.
Review the list of available datasets.
Select the dataset you want to use to begin building the report.
Select Save.
Available datasets are based on Apricot Data Standards that have been published and processed.
Step 3: View datasets included in an existing report
Once a report has been created, you can see which datasets are included.
The datasets included in the report appear in a dataset dropdown on the left side of the Builder workspace.
This dropdown shows all datasets currently available in the report.
Step 4: Add or remove datasets from an existing report
You can update the datasets used in a report at any time.
Open the report in Builder.
In the dataset dropdown, select Add a new dataset to include another dataset.
Select Manage datasets to:
View datasets already included in the report
Add additional datasets
Remove datasets that are no longer needed
Changes take effect immediately in the report workspace.
Step 5: Switch between datasets (optional)
When a report includes more than one dataset, you can switch between them while building visuals.
Use the dataset dropdown in the left navigation area of Builder to switch datasets.
Switching datasets changes which fields appear in the Fields list and are available for use in visuals.
Important things to know
Only Impact Hub Authors and Author Pro users can add or manage datasets.
Removing a dataset from a report does not delete the underlying Data Standard or dataset.
If expected fields do not appear, confirm the correct dataset is selected.
Newly published Data Standards appear as datasets the day after publication.
New or updated Apricot data syncs into Impact Hub approximately every two hours.
