You ran an amazing tournament last year - from building an informative and visually appealing website to the perfect registration packages. Now, you're all ready to start planning your next event, what do you do? You 'clone' last year's tournament so you spend a fraction of the time on tournament setup so you can focus on your main goal - raising as much money as you can for your worthwhile cause.

Here's how you can copy as much (or as little!) from a previous tournament:

  1. Login:

    • Access your admin dashboard.

    • You will land on the 'My Tournaments' page, which lists every tournament you've ever run using Event Caddy.

    • If already logged into a tournament, use the + sign at the top left next to your tournament name to get back to the main dashboard.

  2. Choose Cloning Method:

    • Option A:

      1. Find the specific tournament you want to clone.

      2. Click on the three stacked dots on the far right of the screen.

      3. Select the 'Clone Tournament' option from the drop-down menu.

      Option B:

      1. Click on the 'Clone Existing Tournament' button located above the table listing all your tournaments.

  3. Clone Tournament Screen:

    • A new screen will appear for cloning.

If you chose Option A, certain areas will already be populated with the tournament you are copying.

  4. Complete Mandatory Fields:

    • Enter a name for your tournament.

    • Set an event date and event time (use placeholders if this information hasn't been finalized).

  5. Select Areas to Clone:

    • Choose the different areas you want to clone from the previous tournament.

Refer to the Tournament cloning deep dive article for more details on the different areas you can clone.

  6. Start Cloning Process:

    • Click the 'Clone Tournament' button located at the bottom of the page.

    • You will be redirected back to the 'My Tournaments' screen.

  7. Wait for Cloning to Complete:

    • The cloning process can take several minutes.

    • Refresh the page periodically until the cloned tournament appears in the list.

Additional Information (Q&A)

  • Can I clone the 'Sponsors' section along with the sponsor logos?
As often the sponsors change year over year, currently the Sponsors section cannot be cloned, but that will be an available option in the future.
