Is the Seis card a prepaid card?

Learn why the Seis debit card is not a prepaid card and how your money works

Updated this week

The Seis card is not a prepaid card. It’s a debit card linked to a bank account (checking account) in your name.

With the Seis debit card:

  • Your money is deposited directly into your bank account.

  • If you lose the card, your money stays safe in your account.

  • Your funds are FDIC insured up to $3,000,000.

  • You can add money through:

  • Cash

  • Checks

  • Bank transfers

  • Direct deposit, among other methods

A prepaid card works differently:

  • It isn’t linked to a bank account.

  • Money is loaded directly onto the card.

  • If you lose the card, you could lose the balance.

  • It doesn’t have FDIC insurance.

  • It usually can only be reloaded with cash or reload packs.
