Safety Rules & Operational Audits

1. Overview

Safety Rules and Operational Audits work together to ensure safe, consistent working practices across the utility network, but they serve two different purposes.

  • Safety Rules

Safety Rules are the formal procedures that set out how work must be carried out safely.

They ensure:

  • Safe working practices are followed at all times.

  • Clear responsibilities for everyone involved in the task.

  • Consistent processes for isolations, switching, permits, testing, and access.

  • Protection for anyone working on or near electrical infrastructure.

Safety Rules are the standards and requirements that everyone must follow.

  • Operational Audits

Operational Audits check whether Safety Rules and procedures are being followed correctly in real work situations.

They ensure:

  • Compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Consistency across teams and work sites.

  • Competency by confirming individuals understand and apply the correct processes.

  • Continuous improvement by identifying training needs or gaps.

Operational Audits are the verification that the rules are being applied as intended.

2. Adding Safety Rules & Operational Audit information

  • Safety Rules

    a. Open the navigation on the left and click 'User Management', then click 'Profiles'

    b. In the search bar, type in the name or the email address of the person's profile you are searching for and click the eye icon in the Actions column

    c. Click Edit Profile

d. Click on Safety Rules

e. Complete relevant information

f. Click Save Changes

  • Operational Audit

    a. Open the navigation on the left and click 'User Management', then click 'Profiles'

    b. In the search bar, type in the name or the email address of the person's profile you are searching for and click the eye icon in the Actions column

    c. Click Edit Profile

d. Click on Safety Rules section

e. Complete Last Audit Date & Next Audit Date information

f. Click Save Changes

  • View changes on profile

3. Editing Safety Rules

a. Open the navigation on the left and click 'User Management', then click 'Profiles'

b. In the search bar, type in the name or the email address of the person's profile you are searching for and click the eye icon in the Actions column

c. Click Edit Profile

d. Click on Safety Rules section

e. Modify relevant information

f. Click Save Changes
