Add Swedbank Pay Checkout to the checkout and manage the payment based on the order's actual payment status.
Before you begin
This guide applies to Swedbank Pay Checkout in Abicart Go, Plus, and Pro, with an approved and activated connection. You need an agreement with Swedbank Pay, account/connection details, and a store with HTTPS.
Swedbank Pay is a unified checkout. Payment methods such as card, Swish, credit, and invoice are displayed according to your agreement, market, and Swedbank Pay's assessment. A customer type setting in Abicart does not mean that Swedbank Pay supports all business or private customer flows in your agreement. Confirm customer types and payment methods with Swedbank Pay before you launch.
Swish in this checkout is not the same connection as the standalone payment method Swish Handel. Do not use Swish certificates or details for another payment method here.
1. Confirm agreement and price
Apply via the offer shown in the store's Dashboard, if available, or through Swedbank Pay. When the connection is approved, you will get access to the provider's portal and the details to be used in Abicart.
Check transaction fees, any fixed fees, and conditions in the current offer. Older price examples are not a general price quote. Abicart's support for the payment method does not replace the provider agreement.
2. Add the payment method
Open Settings → Payment methods → Add new payment method. Select Swedbank Pay and add it. If it is missing from the list, support should check the store's activation.
Fill in the settings and save before making the payment method publicly available. The images show a previous admin interface.
Status and availability
Active: makes the payment method available when other conditions are met.
Default: selects which available payment option is suggested in the checkout.
Only specified customers/customer groups: limits availability to the groups/customers you specify. Also check the respective group's setting.
Customer type: limits who can see the option in Abicart. It does not extend the provider agreement's support.
Personal/organization number: makes the corresponding information mandatory in the checkout if you activate the requirement.
Payment status email: sends separate information about the payment status to the store owner.
Gift card products: can be excluded from purchase with this payment method.
Account and test mode
Use details for the correct company, account, and environment from Swedbank Pay. Older images may call them Merchant ID and Merchant token; the current connection uses Payee ID and Access token.
Test credentials and production credentials must not be mixed. Only check the test mode box when using the designated test environment. Do not leave test mode active when the store is supposed to take real payments, and do not share the access token in emails or screenshots.
Name and description
If needed, enter a name and an explanation for the customer. An empty name field uses the payment method's default name. The description must match the payment options and terms that are actually offered.
Currencies and countries
Limit the payment method to the currencies you want to use and that are supported by the provider agreement. The fact that a currency is enabled in the store is not in itself an approval from Swedbank Pay.
If needed, select specific delivery countries. Check the country, currency, and customer type together; an allowed country in the store does not guarantee that all of the checkout's payment options will be offered there.
Order status, amount limits, and fee
A selected order status is an administrative setting. Use the payment status to determine if the amount is authorized or captured.
An amount limit refers to the total amount including shipping and other fees. Check the edge cases so that you don't hide all payment options for certain shopping carts.
Any fee in the checkout is the store's fee to the customer. It is not the same as the transaction fee in your agreement. Check the agreement and regulatory terms before adding it.
3. Check the entire payment flow before launch
Check the correct environment, account, currency, and customer type using Swedbank Pay's designated test procedure. A loaded checkout or a visible Swish button does not prove that a payment can be completed. Reconcile the order, total amount, and actual payment status after completing the test.
If the payment method is missing in the checkout: check Active, country, currency, customer type, customer group, and amount limit before changing the connection credentials.
4. Capture authorized payments when the order is ready to be shipped
Open the order and read the payment status. For an authorized payment, select the corresponding Capture (Swedbank Pay Checkout) under Perform actions and perform the action upon delivery. This can also be done via the action icon in the order list when the correct action is offered.
Do not capture an already paid order again. Check the result both in the order's payment status and with Swedbank Pay. After an interruption or an unclear response, you should read the existing transaction before trying again.
5. Cancel or refund based on payment status
An authorization that will not be used is handled with the cancellation action. An already captured payment is handled with the refund action when it is offered. Simply changing a custom order status is not proof of a completed cancellation or refund.
Check the amount and result in the provider's portal. Do not assume that Abicart's action supports optional partial capture or partial refunds. Do not make the same refund both manually in the portal and in Abicart.
