If you’re using Gmail and want to keep your Abode updates in the same place you’re already collaborating with your team, you’re in the right spot.
This guide will walk you through a simple, step-by-step process to automatically forward Abode notification emails straight to your Slackbot. That means your Abode updates will still arrive in your inbox, but now you’ll also get a helpful nudge in Slack -adding an extra layer of organization and timely reminders. Step 1: Set up a Slackbot forwarding address
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the tab bar.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Messages & media.
Scroll down to Bring emails into Slack, then click Get a Forwarding Address. Slack will generate a forwarding email address.
Click Copy and use the forwarding address to set up a forwarding rule in the next step.
Step 2: Create Your Gmail Filter to Forward Abode Notifications
On your computer, open Gmail.
In the top right, click Settings and then See all settings.
Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
In the "Forwarding" section, click Add a forwarding address.
Enter the email your Slackbot generated for you in the previous step.
Follow the steps to verify your Slackbot email and forwarding rule.
Once you have successfully added your forwarding email, click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Select Create a new filter to forward notifications from Abode only.
Enter Abode's email notification address, info@abodehr.com, on the top line labeled From - select Create Filter.
Select the option Forward it to: and select the Slackbot email you have setup in steps 1-6. Click Create filter.
Follow the steps in the secure Google verification popup once you click continue. You will now receive your Abode notifications via Slack!
