In this article, you will learn how to manually refresh course progress statuses in the system to ensure accurate tracking of learners’ progress, even after changes to course content

While managing courses, it’s common for course content to change after learners have already started — for example, new lessons may be added, or unnecessary lessons or quizzes removed.

These changes can lead to a mismatch between actual learner progress and the displayed course status (for instance, a learner has completed the course, but the status still shows “In Progress”). To fix this, you can use the manual course progress status refresh feature.

🔍 How to Refresh Course Progress Status

Administrators can manually trigger a recalculation of a learner’s course progress. To do this, go to the learner’s profile and select a course with the status “In Progress”:

📌 Note: This feature is only available to users with Admin or Owner roles.

Next to each course marked as “In Progress,” three dots will appear. Clicking on them will reveal the “Refresh Status” button:

📌 Note: The “Refresh Status” button only appears for courses that are In Progress.

Clicking the button starts a background recalculation process. A tooltip will appear to indicate that the update is running in the background:

Once triggered, the button becomes inactive for 1 hour for that specific course–learner pair. Hovering over the disabled button will show when it will become available again:

📌 Note: This cooldown is independent for each course–learner pair, so multiple courses for the same learner can be refreshed at the same time.

The same functionality is available for learning paths. If a course within a path is refreshed, the status of the entire learning path will also be recalculated automatically.

Updating course progress statuses manually simplifies course management and helps keep data accurate and up-to-date without extra effort.
