Manual approval allows administrators and instructors to better control learner progress. A quiz or assignment is considered complete only after an administrator confirms it.

Notifications for New Submissions

Whenever a learner completes a quiz, you will receive a notification in the Academy feed:

Information about the submission is also displayed on the Academy tabs, the quiz page, and the course card.

Enabling Manual Approval

To activate manual approval:

  1. Open the desired quiz.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Enable the Manual Approval option.

After activation, a new Manual Approval tab will appear next to the Settings tab in the quiz interface.

Reviewing Submissions

The Manual Approval tab contains three lists:

  • Pending Approval – submissions waiting for review

  • Approved – approved submissions

  • Rejected – rejected submissions

You can review submissions directly from this page or go to the Home Tasks Center:

Checking Learner Answers

All learner answers are displayed on the left. Each question shows the time spent on it. For each task, you will also see:

  • Quiz title

  • Learner information (name, email)

  • Submission date, time spent, and current score

  • Text feedback field

  • Button to record a voice comment (marked with an arrow in the screenshot)

  • Correct and Incorrect buttons to mark the learner's answer

  • Reject and Approve buttons to reject or approve the submission

AO Assistant 🤖

For quizzes with open-ended questions, you can use the personal AO Assistant. It analyzes learner answers based on your notes and automatically provides feedback and grading.

After Approval or Rejection

Once a submission is approved or rejected, it will appear in the learner’s results tab.
