1. Identify Which Products Need Registration

First, identify all of your products that are considered Environmentally Sensitive and require UL WERCSmart registration. This includes, but is not limited to, any items containing:

  • Lithium batteries

  • Liquids

  • Gels

2. Check the Registration Status of Your Items

Before proceeding, determine if your products are already registered with UL WERCSmart.

  • If the UPC is already registered: You can proceed directly to list your item on Target.com.

  • If the UPC is NOT registered: You must contact UL WERCSmart to begin the registration process for each unregistered UPC.

  • If you are unsure of the registration status: Please send a list of your SKUs to your designated Category Manager for assistance.

3. Register Your Products with UL WERCSmart

Follow these key steps to ensure a smooth registration process:

  • Register at the UPC Level: Each individual item, including all color and size variations, must have its own UPC-level registration.

  • No Proof of Registration Needed: You do not need to send proof of registration to Target. Our systems will systematically verify your registration with UL WERCSmart.

  • Allow for Processing Time: It typically takes up to three business days for Target's compliance system to receive your item's data from UL WERCSmart after you have submitted a complete and accurate registration.

4. List Your ESIM Items on Target.com

Once your items are registered, you can proceed with listing them on Target.com.

  1. Complete Battery Information: Ensure that all battery attribution for your item is fully completed before you submit the item for listing.

  2. Submit Your Item: Upon submission, our compliance system will automatically check for a completed UL WERCSmart registration for the item's UPC.

    • If a match is found: Your item will proceed through the remaining attribute and content validation steps.

    • If a match is NOT found: An error will be generated for the item, and you will need to take further action.
