Creating New Products in Admin

To manually create a new product in Acenda, follow these steps:

  1. On the sidebar under Data Management, click Items

  2. At the top right, click + New Item

  3. In the Item Details section, enter the Name, Brand, and Description for the product. Under Group, distinguish whether the item is a product (for parent SKUs) or variant (for either standalone products or products grouped under a parent). Enter a unique SKU (the minimum requirement) and if applicable, a unique UPC, EAN, GTIN, MPN, and ISBN.

  4. If the item is a parent SKU ('product' is selected for the Group field), then a Variants section appears below. This section allows mass creation of variant SKUs by options, which are attributes by which variants differ (i.e. size and color). To use this feature, follow these steps:

    1. Click + New Option to add an option. The Option Name will be chosen for you but you can input your own. It is recommended no to exceed the first two default options, size and color.

    2. In the Option Values fields, enter the corresponding values of each option (i.e. small, medium, large, etc. for size and red, white, blue, etc. for color) and press return after each entry.

    3. A SKU creation wizard will then populate below, breaking out each variant by all possible option value combinations. You can then enter a price, SKU, and UPC for each combination to create your variants in bulk.

  5. In the Additional Attributes section, fill out the custom fields available. The default units for product and package measurements are marketplace determined but can be changed.

  6. When finished, click Save.

The product will then be given an ID and can be found by sorting by the largest ID in the Items section.

  1. Click View next to the item. You can now fill in additional details.

  2. In the Details tab, you can edit the Product Details and Additional Attributes created initially as well as add Media (product images) and Product Options if the item is a parent SKU.

    1. If the item is a parent SKU, under Product Options, click the pencil icon and enter the options by which to distinguish variants (i.e. 'size' and 'color'). It is recommended to only use size and color. After typing each option, hit enter, and when finished entering options, click the disk icon to save your inputs.

    2. In the Media section, click the pencil icon and then 'Upload Image' to upload the images from a file or 'Add from URL' to add them via URLs. The following image types are accepted: png, gif, jpg, svg, webp.

  3. The Aliases tab allows you to assign the item a separate SKU, UPC, EAN, GTIN, MPN, or ISBN for a particular marketplace or subscription. To do so, click Add a new alias. Then, enter the subscription and the separate ID in the corresponding field(s). Please refer to the article Understanding Aliases: Connecting External IDs with Acenda for Seamless Marketplace Integration | Acenda Help Center for more information.

  4. Under the Channel Mapping tab, you can assign the product to a marketplace/subscription and posting template by clicking the Add channel mapping button. The Listing Action window allows three options: FULL, which sends full listing content to the marketplace; ZERO, which sends full content with 0 inventory (regardless of actual inventory) to the marketplace; and UNLIST, which unlists (retires) the SKU.

  5. The Suggested Fixes tab shows any marketplace listing errors for the item. Please refer to the article How to Fix Marketplace Listing Errors | Acenda Help Center for more information on correcting these errors.

  6. If the item is a parent, the Variants tab shows the variant options and their values and the variants assigned to that parent item.

  7. If the item is a variant, the Parents tab lets you assign the product to a parent. To do so, click Assign parent and select the parent product for the item by searching for the parent in the search field. Click Add when finished.

  8. If the item is a variant, the Inventory tab allows manual creation of inventory details. To do so, click Add new inventory detail and assign the item a warehouse, and enter the quantity. It is also possible to enter the item's manufacturing cost in the 'cost' field.

  9. For variants, under Pricing, enter a price, MSRP, and MAPP. You can also enter a custom price for a particular marketplace/subscription or a promotional price for a subscription spanning a date range. For more information on how to set up promotional pricing please refer to the Setting Up Price Promotions and Discounts | Acenda Help Center article.
