What is a Video Interview and why do I have to do it?

Updated over a week ago

A Video Interview is a virtual, asynchronous interview conducted remotely that allows programs to hear directly from applicants through timed video responses to structured prompts.

Why do I have to do it?

The program(s) you are applying to has included a Video Interview as a mandatory step of the application process. There are several reasons why a school or institution may require Video Interviews, such as:

  • Wanting to hear from applicants in their own voice – highlighting skills like communication and professionalism, or alignment with their mission

  • Getting to know students beyond grades, test scores, or written submissions

  • In place of, or as a screening tool, for in person interviews

How many Video Interviews do I need to complete?

The number of Video Interviews you need to complete depends on the programs you are applying to that require them as part of the admissions process.

One Interview per Program

  • Each program may have different questions and configurations for their Video Interviews.

  • You must complete a separate Video Interview for each program that requires it.
