Tips for maximizing success on Casper’s video response section

Updated over a year ago

It is your responsibility to ensure that your devices (including any audio/video recording devices) are working properly for your test. Though rare, you may be required to retake your test if technical issues with your devices impact your responses.

To prevent issues and ensure that your responses are properly recorded, we recommend:

  • Use wired inputs when possible. Wireless headphones/earbuds and microphones (like AirPods) can experience connectivity issues or run out of battery during your test. Avoid this with microphones that can plug into your computer, or use the built-in one if available. If you must use a wireless option, fully charge it before your test.

  • Disconnect external input devices. If you have external cameras or microphones connected, disconnecting them and using built-in options (if any) may work better during the test. This ensures that your input doesn’t switch to the wrong source without your knowledge.

  • Close other software that can access your webcam or microphone. These can cause problems with your webcam or microphone connecting to Casper properly. This includes disabling webcam filters or streaming software.

  • Remove extra noise. Avoid things that could add extra noise to your audio, like loud fans.

  • Speak loudly and clearly. Do your best to speak into the microphone, so that your responses can be clearly heard.

Finally, if in doubt, contact us! If you suspect there are problems or make any changes during your test (like switching a microphone input), use the chat bubble right away to speak with our Support team.

We can help confirm if your video or audio is recording properly, or troubleshoot other areas. This may take up to a few minutes, but please be patient and we’ll do our best to ensure your recordings are satisfactory, and that you get the proper time to complete your test.
