What should I do on the day of the Casper test?

Everything you need to know about the Casper test day

Updated this week

Preparing properly on test day is essential to avoid delays or technical issues. Below is everything you need to know to ensure a smooth Casper experience.

1. Choose the right testing environment

Casper is completed online from a location of your choice. To perform at your best:

  • Select a quiet, private space

  • Remove distractions

  • Inform others not to interrupt you

  • You may wear headphones to reduce background noise

⚠️ You must take the test alone.

2. Make sure you meet technical requirements

Before your Casper test, confirm you have:

  • A computer (phones and tablets are not permitted)

  • A working webcam

  • A working microphone

  • A reliable internet connection

  • A device that passes the System Requirements Check in your Acuity Insights account

Your webcam and microphone are required for the Casper test for both:

  • Identity verification and proctoring

  • Recording video responses in the first section of the test

During the entire test, your webcam must be:

  • Turned on

  • Uncovered

  • Clearly facing you

Make sure your microphone and webcam are working properly before you begin.

3. Prepare your computer before the test

To reduce the risk of interruptions:

  • Restart your computer

  • Close all other applications (e.g., Zoom)

  • Use an incognito/private window (if needed)

  • Disable firewalls or pop-up blockers

  • Turn off all browser extensions (e.g., Grammarly)

  • Deactivate any VPN if you're using one

4. Log in early

Log in to your Acuity Insights account about 30 minutes before your scheduled test time. This allows you to:

  • Complete final checks

  • Troubleshoot if necessary

  • Settle in and focus

Dress code: What should you wear?

There is no formal dress code for Casper. Raters are trained to evaluate the content of your responses, not your appearance. However, you should present yourself in a respectful, distraction-free manner.

Recommended approach:

  • Dress comfortably

  • Avoid overly casual or distracting clothing (e.g., pajamas)

  • Think of it like a virtual interview

  • Choose simple, professional-looking attire

💡 Remember: Your ideas and responses matter most. Dress in a way that helps you feel confident and focused.
