Two different things can come out of a session, and they follow different rules:
Your Journal (transcript + summary)
A private summary of your session: insights, action items, highlights and the transcript. It's generated when you have the AI Note-taker turned on. Turn it off in Settings under AI Notes and future sessions simply won't be journalled for you.
Video recording
A room-wide video recording of the session. This only happens automatically when everyone in the session has explicitly turned the AI Note-taker on. One person's opt-out (or an untouched setting) means no recording, and group sessions are never auto-recorded.
In short
Journal: follows your setting, about your session notes.
Recording: needs everyone's explicit opt-in.
