How to Attract the Right Mentees by Setting Up Calendar Session Types

Setting up your sessions strategically can help you find the types of mentees you want to help

Updated over 3 months ago

Creating custom calendar session types with specific purposes is one of the best ways to attract the right mentees. When you define clear session objectives, you ensure that mentees booking time with you are aligned with your expertise and mentorship goals. Here's how setting up targeted sessions can help you connect with the types of mentees you want to support.

Why Set Up Different Calendar Session Types?

1. Tailored Focus: Custom session types allow you to offer mentorship on topics you enjoy and excel at. This helps mentees know exactly what to expect and ensures that your time is spent on what you’re passionate about.

2. Mentee Alignment: Defining session types helps mentees self-select, making it easier to attract those whose needs and goals align with your areas of expertise. This can range from entry-level mentees looking for job application tips to mid-level professionals seeking leadership advice.

3. Efficient Sessions: By clearly outlining the scope of each session, you can hit the ground running, making your mentorship more focused and productive.

4. Long-Term Engagement: Some sessions may work better as recurring meetings, allowing you to build deeper relationships with mentees who are invested in long-term growth.

Examples of Custom Calendar Session Types

Here are a few session types that can help you target mentees at different stages of their careers:

3. Interview Prep for Entry-Level Roles

Objective: Provide tips on answering interview questions confidently, building strong narratives, and following up effectively.

For Mid to Senior-Level Mentees

1. Career Transition: Moving into Leadership

Objective: Discuss how to build leadership skills, manage teams, and transition from doing to leading.

2. Leading Cross-Functional Teams

Objective: Offer guidance on fostering collaboration, improving communication, and aligning team efforts with business goals.

3. Strategic Career Planning for Senior Roles
