Troubleshooting Your Thiamis

Fix common Thiamis power, connectivity, and sensor reporting issues

This article covers problems with the Thiamis itself: power, connectivity, and errors. If the Thiamis is online but a connected sensor isn’t reporting, see Troubleshooting Sensors.

Start with the Errors section

The Thiamis reports error codes to Environet. Open the Thiamis Edit page and check:

  • Errors (under Device Configuration) for Thiamis errors

  • Connected Sensor Settings for sensor errors, which are highlighted in red

Note any error codes. They help support diagnose the issue quickly. See Configuring Your Thiamis.

Power

  • Confirm the Thiamis is getting power: 12V DC through the SDI-12 PWR Euroblock connector (V+ and GND), or 5V through a USB-C port. Make sure power isn’t connected to the RS-485 connector. See Thiamis Ports, Cables & Connections.

  • Check the Euroblock wires are fully seated and the terminal screws are tight.

  • Check the Battery Voltage parameter on the Monitoring page. A falling value can mean the Thiamis isn’t getting enough power.

Thiamis shows offline

  1. Check device status. Make sure it’s Activated. See Device Status.

  2. Check cellular signal. Move the Thiamis to a spot with better coverage or higher elevation if possible.

  3. Check LTE Antenna. If the Thiamis is inside an enclosure with an external LTE antenna, check that the antenna is attached and tight.

  4. Using WiFi? New WiFi credentials are delivered over cellular, so the Thiamis needs a cellular connection the first time. If there’s no cellular coverage, see WiFi Tethering.

  5. Remote site with no cellular? See How to Connect Your Device Using Starlink.

  6. Restart. Remove power, wait a few minutes, and reconnect. Allow up to 15 minutes for the device to report in Environet.

While offline, a powered Thiamis keeps logging data and uploads it when it reconnects.

Thiamis is online, but a sensor isn’t reporting

  1. In Connected Sensor Settings, check that the sensor is listed and its status is green.

  2. Confirm the Com Port in Environet matches where the sensor is physically connected, including the letter port on a splitter cable.

  3. Some sensors must use Port A. See Thiamis Ports, Cables & Connections.

  4. Power cycle the Thiamis after reseating any cable.

For sensor-specific steps, see Troubleshooting Sensors and the Sensor Setup Guides.
