This article explains how to get started with Aimy Payments, including the activation process. It covers what information you need to have on hand to activate Aimy Payments and how long the activation process takes.
Preparing to get started with Aimy Payments
To activate Aimy Payments, it is important that your business and salon are registered with Aimy and our payment partner; Adyen. Therefore, it is important to first gather the information below.
The following information is required to activate Aimy Payments:
Business name
Company Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number
Chamber of Commerce extract in PDF format
Your company’s VAT number
Company address
Salon name
Decision-maker. In a BV (often private limited company) or a VOF (general partnership under Dutch law) this is the person authorized to sign and who holds more than a 25% stake in the company
Proof of identity (ID card, passport, or driver’s license) – image of both sides
IBAN number where payments will be received
A screenshot of your online banking interface OR a bank statement to prove you are the account holder.
Where can you activate Aimy Payments?
Go to Settings > Aimy Payments via the menu.
Note: If your salon is already registered within Aimy Payments, you can select an existing entity. If this is the first or only salon you want to onboard, you must create a new entity.
Step 1: Select “Create Custom Entity” or an existing entity. If you are requesting a new entity, fill in the fields for the entity and all required salon information, then click “Request.”
Note: Enter your phone number with the correct country code, e.g., +31612345678
Step 2: Click “Start onboarding.”
Step 3: Enter the final required information to complete the onboarding (see preparation above).
In this step, if you have a sole proprietorship, select “Sole Proprietorship” under “Business Type.” If you have a BV or VOF, in both cases, first select “BV,” and then under “Business Type,” select “Private Company” if it is a BV, and “Partnership” if it is a VOF.
Next, fill in all the requested information and ensure that a green checkmark appears next to all fields in the overview below.
IMPORTANT! 1) Make sure you upload a document (registration document to verify your bank with the entity) that has the same name. 2) Under “Decision-maker,” ensure you have added a signatory AND an owner (who owns more than 25%).
TIP: When linking your bank account, choose the direct onboarding process via TINK, which allows you to link your account directly by logging into your online banking and eliminates the need to upload documents.
Step 4: Wait for a confirmation email (sent to the salon; see profile settings) from Aimy stating that Aimy Payments has been activated and the onboarding process has been successfully completed.
How long does it take to receive an email from Aimy?
This, of course, depends on the information provided. If this information is correct, it takes a maximum of 24 hours (on business days) for the onboarding to be successfully completed.
Step 5: Link the payment methods per salon
The final step to activate Aimy Payments is to enable the desired payment methods under Settings > Aimy Payments in the salon. If “PIN” is enabled, it is important that a PIN terminal is linked to the salon.
