Akada Portal Settings

Updated over a week ago

You've decided to use the Akada Portal app and may have questions about how to set it up. This article will walk you through the process! Please note that you must activate the Akada Portal to see these options.

Using the menu on the left, scroll down to Settings and open the Akada Portal section. Instead of three sections, we've condensed the Akada Portal settings to two pages: General and Account Permissions. Let's start with General Settings.

Akada Portal General Settings:

Here, you'll find the link to the parent login screen that you'll attach to your website. You can also control specific layout settings and set particular messages, such as the Home screen messages and confirmation messages your customers will receive when submitting a registration.

Links for your customers:

Akada Portal is a mobile app, but it's always good to make the browser version available to your customers. The links below are useful for your website and social media.

Akada Site Appearance:

Upload a logo on all school-specific and logged-in pages in the customer app.

Activate and deactivate accounts:

Use our Account Activation email to email your existing accounts about the Akada Portal. The email includes the link to the parent portal; add your message!

The account activation email can be used multiple times. Only the parents who have yet to register will receive the email for each use.

You can also send a password reset email to your parents. Any parent who has set up an account will be prompted to reset their password.

This can come in handy for parents who only use the Akada Portal occasionally. It reminds them they've already signed up and can prevent existing customers from creating duplicate accounts.

Deactivate accounts who have never signed in:

This option makes any account not set up via the Akada Portal inactive.

Some studios rely on the activation of the parent account for the policy agreement signature, and this tool allows you to deactivate anyone who has not signed the agreement.

Student Defaults:

This option allows you to let your parents add students and upload documents.

Class list options:

This feature will allow you to set the defaults for the Class List page view.

  • When a Class is Fully Enrolled – Use the drop-down menu to choose between Do Not Display Full Classes, Display Full Classes but Do Not Allow Registration, or Display Full Classes and Allow Registration.

  • Default Sort Order - Use this drop-down to choose the order of the displayed classes.

  • Default Class Types Shown - Use this drop-down menu to choose the order in which the classes will appear based on the type of class it is.

  • Default Class List Size – Use the drop-down menu to choose the number of rows of classes displayed on a page. Individual parents can choose other options, but this setting will be the default for all parents.

  • Default Class List Size – Use this option to choose how the classes are sorted for your parents. Again, individual parents can choose other options, but this setting will be the default for all parents.

  • Class Scheduling Conflict —Checking this box will allow a parent to request a class even if it conflicts with another class they have already selected. They will be warned and given the option to proceed anyway. This can be useful when running summer camps that occur simultaneously/on different days but on different weeks.

  • Out-of-Age Range Classes—This option tells the software what to do when a parent selects a class for a child who is too young or older than the selected class's age range.

  • Out of Age Range—This option warns parents when they select a class outside their child's age range.

Class Registration*:

For studios that allow online registration, the following options allow you to enter customized text that will appear on the registration pages.

Instructions -

Information entered here appears at the top of the class list. Enter basic instructions for selecting classes.

Studio Messages-

This feature will allow you to show a message on the home page when parents access the Parent Portal.

You may have multiple messages, and you can archive any message you want to use later.

Contact Us Page Settings:

Easily share your studio's information with Parents. The Contact Us Page lets you share your studio's basic information within the Akada Portal.

You, the studio, will select what items you'd like to show on the Contact Us Page and if the parents can send messages!

Account create/login embed code:

For studios who would like to embed the Akada Portal on their website, we have the Account Create/Login embed code:

Here is an example of the new login integration. Thank you to Dance Connection in Long Island, NY for working with us on this project and allowing us to use their website in this article.
