Mini quizzes in Alia allow you to collect valuable insights directly from your customers. You can use these responses to create segments in Klaviyo and send personalized email campaigns based on customer preferences. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Understand How Questions Are Identified

In Alia, each quiz question is identified in Klaviyo based on the text you enter in the question field marked with a question icon in the popup editor.

For example, if you ask “What are you shopping for today?”, that exact text becomes the property name sent to Klaviyo.

💡 Make sure the question text is clear and easy to recognize when you later search for it inside Klaviyo.

Step 2: Log In to Klaviyo and Create a New Segment

  • Go to your Klaviyo dashboard.

  • Navigate to Lists & Segments in the sidebar.

  • Click Create List / Segment > choose Segment.

  • Name your segment (e.g. Alia Mini Quiz).

Step 3: Set Up the Segment Conditions

  • In the segment builder, choose Properties about someone as the condition.

  • Search for the exact question text you used in your mini quiz.

    • Example: What are you shopping for today?

  • Once you select the question, you’ll see a dropdown of all the responses customers have submitted.

  • Choose the answer you want to segment by (e.g., Women), and Klaviyo will automatically include everyone who selected that option.

  • Finish by selecting "Create Segment" to create your segment based on the mini quiz data

That’s it!

Now, your segment will dynamically update as more customers respond to the mini quiz. You can use these segments to send targeted email flows, personalize content, and boost engagement based on self-reported customer data.

Best Practices

  • Ensure quiz questions are clear and relevant to your segmentation or personalization goals.

  • Regularly review and update your segments and flows to align with marketing objectives.

  • Use fallback content to provide a seamless experience for users who did not complete the quiz. Additionally, you can use quiz responses in conditional flows to branch messaging based on user answers. For example, in a welcome flow, add a conditional split that checks the value of a specific profile property and serves tailored content. Quiz responses can also personalize email or SMS content by using conditional blocks to display different imagery, copy, or CTAs based on user answers.
