Understanding Scroll Depth Triggers
A scroll depth trigger in Alia allows your popup to appear only after a visitor has scrolled a certain percentage down your webpage. This is a powerful way to ensure your popups are shown to users who have demonstrated a genuine interest in your content by engaging with it.
A scroll depth trigger helps you capture the attention of more engaged visitors. You can set it as the primary trigger for your popup or combine it with other triggers for more refined targeting.
Key benefits of using scroll depth triggers include:
Improved Engagement: Target visitors who are actively consuming your content.
Less Intrusive: Avoid interrupting users who might immediately bounce from a page.
Contextual Messaging: Deliver messages that are relevant to the point in the content the user has reached.
Step-by-Step Guide to Adding a Scroll Depth Trigger
Follow these simple steps to add a scroll depth trigger to any of your existing Alia popups. This guide assumes you have an active popup campaign ready for modification.
Accessing Your Popup Editor
Log in to your Alia Dashboard
Navigate to the Campaigns section from the main dashboard. This is where all your popup campaigns are listed.
Locate the popup you wish to modify. You might have multiple popups running, so ensure you select the correct one.
Select the popup to open the Alia editor. This will load the visual editor where you can customize your popup's design and triggers.
Configuring the Scroll Depth Trigger
On the right side of the editor interface, look for the "Add a trigger" section.
Under "Add a trigger," click on "Scroll depth." A new setting will appear allowing you to specify the scroll percentage.
Set the desired scroll percentage. You can enter a value like
25%,50%, or75%. This defines how much of the page the user must scroll before the popup appears. For example, 50% means the user has scrolled halfway down the page.
Publishing Your Changes
Once you've configured the scroll depth percentage, ensure you publish your popup to make the changes take effect. Look for a "Publish" button, typically in the top right corner of the editor.
💡 We typically recommend a scroll depth of 25% to 50% for blog posts and 70% for long-form landing pages to ensure the visitor has consumed enough information to be receptive to your call-to-action.
