This guide will walk you through each step—from setting your theme and logo to customizing your popup design and adding key actions like rewards and opt-ins. Before you begin using the popup builder, it's crucial to create a campaign, as this serves as the entry point to accessing the popup functionalities in Alia.
Quick Start: Log in to Alia, navigate to the Campaigns section, and click the Create button. Give your campaign a name and click on it to enter the popup builder.
Step 1: Choose a Template
Once you are in the popup builder, you’ll be prompted to choose a template for your popup from our template library. Our templates are designed for high conversion and can be fully customized. Once you've made your selection, click Next.
Step 2: Customizing Your Popup Theme
The Theme step allows you to match the look and feel of your popup to your brand identity. Here is how to personalize it:
Choose Your Brand Colors: Update your Text, Background, Accent, and Accent Foreground colors using hex codes. You can also import colors from your storefront directly.
Select Fonts: Choose your Display and Body fonts. Popular picks like Sora and Nunito offer a modern aesthetic.
Adjust Border Radius: Set the corner rounding (e.g., 4px for a subtle rounded look).
Add Text & Button Styles: Customize headings, body text, and compliance text, as well as primary, secondary, and icon button styles.
Use the Mobile and Desktop toggle in the upper right corner to preview how your popup will appear on different devices before clicking Next step.
Step 3: Uploading Your Logo
Adding your logo reinforces brand identity and builds visitor trust.
In the Logo step, click Upload logo on the left side.
Choose your image file (ideally a transparent PNG or SVG).
The logo will automatically appear at the top of your popup preview.
Step 4: Adding a Floating Button
The floating button is a small, dismissible call-to-action that remains visible after the popup is closed. This allows visitors to reopen the offer if they change their mind.
Select your preferred position: Bottom left, Bottom right, Left wall, or Right wall.
Note: While you can select "No floating button," it is not recommended as users will have no way to retrieve the offer once the popup is dismissed.
Step 5: Set Up the First Step (The Mini Quiz)
The First Step is where you gather zero-party data. We recommend the Mini Quiz format for the highest signup rates. For example, asking "Who are you shopping for today?" with options like "Myself" or "Someone else" makes the experience feel conversational.
Other available options include:
Spin to Win / Plinko: Gamified experiences with pre-decided rewards.
Mystery Box / Scratch Off: Interactive elements that reveal a reward.
Micro Commitment: Asks for a small confirmation before showing the offer.
Step 6: Collect Email and Phone Number
To deliver rewards, you need to capture contact info. You can collect Email only or Email and SMS. To remain compliant (TCPA/GDPR), you must provide:
The legal name of your brand.
Links to your Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
A default country code (for SMS).
Step 7: Configure the Reward
Choose how you want to incentivize your visitors:
Static Code: A single reusable code (e.g., WELCOME10).
Unique Code: A one-time-use code generated for each user.
Smart Reward: Different rewards based on customer intent.
Custom/No Reward: For giveaways or non-discount offers.
Step 8: Choose Opt-In Logic
This determines when the reward is revealed and how consent is handled:
Single Opt-in: Reward is shown immediately. Recommended for Klaviyo.
Double Opt-in: Users must confirm via email/SMS first. Recommended for Postscript and Attentive.
Step 9: Add Triggers
Control when your popup appears using these triggers:
Time Delay: Default is set to 5 seconds.
Exit Intent: Fires when a user is about to leave the site.
Scroll Depth: Appears after a certain percentage of the page is scrolled.
Smart Trigger: Uses predictive analytics to re-trigger the popup for likely converters who previously closed it.
Step 10: Make Your Campaign Live
Once you are satisfied with the design and logic, navigate to the Campaigns Dashboard. Locate your campaign and click the toggle button to publish it.
💡Tip: You can also schedule the campaign, set up A/B tests, set up educational tracks or edit targeting before going live.
