Adding new popups

This guide covers the main ways to create new popups, sale popups, gamified steps, and translated versions from an existing popup, plus a few things to double-check along the way.

Set up a new popup from an existing one

To create a new popup from an existing one:

  1. Click the three dots on your existing popup > Duplicate as draft:

  2. A new popup will be created under Drafts in the same campaign:

  3. Click on the newly created popup, give it a new, distinctive name, and edit it as needed.

Create Sale popups

To create new sale popups, do it in a separate campaign, as this makes scheduling and unscheduling easier and keeps your reporting separate. Here's how:

  1. Click the three dots on your existing campaign > Duplicate campaign:

  2. A new campaign will be created at the bottom of the page.

  3. Give it a new, distinctive name:

  4. Edit the text and images, or create a new popup as described in the section above.

  5. Double-check the following to make sure the campaign works as desired:

  6. Set the scheduling as desired on the new and active campaigns (How to Schedule an Alia Campaign for a Specific Date and Time).

  7. Test using the preview button (How to Preview and Test Your Alia Popups).

Add gamified first steps

Gamified first steps are a great way to engage users and prompt them to interact with the popup. The current gamified options are:

  • Spin to Win

  • Scratch off

  • Plinko

  • Mystery Box

To add a gamified first step:

  1. Duplicate the popup as shown in the first section above (or edit your current popup).

  2. Click the + icon to add a new step and select the gamified step you would like to add:

  3. Drag and drop it into the first step position:

  4. Delete your current first step by right-clicking on the step name > Delete. If your current first step is a Mini Quiz, check whether you're using those answers for flows or data collection in your integrated ESPs. If you are, consider keeping the Mini Quiz and simply adding the gamified step, rather than replacing your existing first step.

  5. Test using the Preview button, then publish, or set up an A/B test (Setting Up A/B Tests in Alia).

Tip: Plinko and Spin to Win popups let you set different rewards and probabilities for each outcome. If you want to set different rewards, you will need to redirect to different next steps and manually set the reward for each.

Translated popups for different audiences

Offering translated versions of your popup is a great way to personalize the experience based on your audience's location. Here's how:

  1. Click the three dots > Duplicate campaign:

  2. A new campaign will be created at the bottom.

  3. Give it a new, distinctive name.

  4. Click the popup in the newly created campaign.

  5. Translate the popup copy by manually changing the current text to the translated or customized version.

  6. Set the campaign targeting (How to Generate Targeting Rules Using AI) by location, URL, market, UTM, or however makes sense for your audience.

  7. Exclude the audience selected in the step above from your current popup.
