How to set up RoadStar Integration

Updated over 2 months ago

ℹ️ As of February 25, 2025, we've introduced two key updates to ELD integrations. First, we now validate credentials before saving, so you’ll instantly know if they’re incorrect, eliminating confusion. Second, the integration card UI has been revamped for clearer status indicators and a more streamlined deactivation process. These improvements aim to make managing integrations faster and more straightforward.

To begin setting up your integration with RoadStar, please make sure you have your subsidiaries set up first. Then, follow the instructions below:

Part 1: Generate an API Token / Key from within the platform

  1. Go to Management / API Tokens from your RoadStar account:

  2. Click on Generate Token

  3. Enter the token name and click ok

  4. The browser will then re-direct you to the token list page and that’s where you will find your Integration token / key

  5. After you've received/generated your API key, please proceed to Part 2.

Part 2: Enter the Roadstar API Key in Alvys

  1. Navigate to Integrations

  2. Expand the ELD section of the integrations list and click on the crayon icon from the RoadStar integration box:

  3. This will open a dialog box where you would be prompted to enter the RoadStar API Key. Once those have been entered, please click the Save button:

Part 3: Add the RoadStar asset ID to individual assets within Alvys

*Before beginning part 3, you'll need to have your trucks and/or trailers set up in the Alvys system.

  1. Find the Assets option in the left menu, then select either trucks or trailers (depending on what you need to set up).

  2. From the list of assets, find and double-click the particular asset you are ready to assign. This will open the Edit Asset page.

  3. On the asset page, scroll down to find the ELD Integrations section, then click the blue Add Integration button. Then, the Add Integration pop-up window will appear.

  4. In the Add Integration window, click the drop-down menu and select RoadStar.

  5. Next, find the RoadStar asset ID, (it can be found as part of the hyperlink when editing that asset in the RoadStar Platform. Ex: https://app.brightroadstar.com/client/trucks/25236). Then, paste it (25236) into the Integration ID field in the Add Integration window.

  6. Click the blue Save button. Then, repeat steps 2 through 6 for the rest of your RoadStar trucks and/or trailers. After you've completed this step for applicable assets, then you're done! Great job!
