Understanding File Versioning in Amplifi

In this guide, we'll explore file versioning in Amplifi. File versioning allows users to keep files up to date while preserving previous iterations. It's essential to use consistent file naming conventions to utilize this feature.

Uploading a "New Version"

  1. Confirm that the file you are uploading has the same exact name as the original stored in Amplifi.

  2. Start the upload process for the new file with the same name as the existing one.

  3. Amplifi has two options for same name files:

    • Replace File: Overwrite the existing file with the new one.

    • Version File: Keep both the old and new versions under the same name.

  4. Select Versioning: Choose the "version" option to retain previous versions.

  5. Amplifi confirms the successful addition of the new version.

Accessing Previous Versions

  1. Navigate to File Details.

  2. In the menu on the left, under the General Information section, look for "File Versions".

  3. Select a version to view and download older iterations of the file.

Benefits of File Versioning

  • Historical Tracking: Easily access previous versions for reference.

  • Change Management: Efficiently manage changes, such as label modifications.

  • Simplified Collaboration: Ensure all users access the latest version while preserving past iterations.
