SynthaceHub can keep your Device Plugins up to date for you.
Each computer on which you install SynthaceHub requires another piece of software. We call this the device software.
When you run an execution on a device, SynthaceHub sends the execution to the device software, and the device software communicates with the device.
Example: When you run an execution on a Tecan Freedom EVO®, SynthaceHub sends the execution to Freedom EVOware®, and Freedom EVOware® communicates with the device.
SynthaceHub uses a Device Plugin (DP) to send the execution to the device software. Like SynthaceHub, a DP runs in the background of a computer, not in the cloud. This means that when we improve a DP, we must release a new version.
The DP updates are not installed automatically, you will be made aware of a pending update and have control over when they are installed.
Discover DP Updates
Available updates for DPs are automatically displayed on the SynthaceHub home screen. The blue banner highlighting that Updates for SynthaceHub are available makes you aware that you can update DPs when ready to do so.
If you are ready to install the update for a DP, use the GO TO UPDATES button to go to the Software Updates page.
Note: an update is also indicated by a red dot next to the profile icon in the top right of the SynthaceHub homepage, clicking on this will allow you to go to the Software Updates page.
If you are not ready to update a DP, use the REMIND ME LATER button to defer the installation. You can select either Remind me tomorrow or Remind me next week. Upon making your selection, the blue banner update notification will be removed from the SynthaceHub homepage and will reappear at the end of the reminder period. The REMIND ME LATER function will apply for a total of two weeks, after which there will persist an orange banner highlighting the required DP update.
Update a DP
The Software Update page displays the available updates for all DPs (it will also include any updates available for the SynthaceHub). Click on Update to install the updated version of a DP.
Note: you can additionally review what is included in the update by clicking on Release notes. The Update history button allows you to review previously installed versions of DPs, allowing you to roll back to a previous version.
The update of the DP is installed. If you experience any issues with the installation use Synthace to talk to us.
