Learning Focus: Learn / Apply

Why It Matters

  • User updates apply to live accounts

  • Some updates may partially fail even when submission succeeds

  • Misinterpreting results can leave users incorrectly configured

When to Do This

  • After submitting:

    • Inline user edits

    • Bulk Update Users

    • Bulk Update Division IDs

  • When users report access or assignment issues after updates

Steps: Check Update Results

  1. Save your update from the User Management tab of the Admin Portal.

  2. Wait for the system to process the changes.

  3. Scroll down the page until you see the Successful Submissions table.

  4. Review the two results sections:

    • Successful Submissions

    • Failed Submissions

  5. Review each returned row carefully before navigating away.

Successful Submissions

  • The system returns one row per user profile

  • A successful submission means the request was processed

⚠️ Important

  • Even if the submission is successful, individual profiles may not be updated

  • Check each returned row carefully

What to Look For

  • Review the errorType field

  • If an errorType is present, that user was not updated

Failed Submissions

  • The system returns one row per user file

  • No user profiles are updated

Common Causes

  • Invalid data format

  • Incorrect field values

  • Missing required fields

Common Failure Scenario: Supervisor & Group Mismatch

Rule

A Supervisor must belong to all Groups that their direct report belongs to.

What Can Cause a Failure

  • A user is removed from a Group and assigned to a different Group

  • The user already has a Supervisor assigned

  • The assigned Supervisor is not a member of the same Group

Result

  • The update fails for that user

  • An error message is returned in the results

What to Do If This Happens

  • Verify the Supervisor’s Group membership

  • Ensure the Supervisor belongs to every Group assigned to the user

  • Re-submit the update after correcting Group access

Watch Out For…

  • “Successful submission” does not guarantee all users were updated

  • Bulk updates can partially fail

  • Supervisor hierarchy rules are strictly enforced

What You Should See

  • Clear success or failure rows after submission

  • Error messages identifying affected user profiles

  • Consistent Supervisor and Group alignment
